Renewable Energy

Wind TurbinesScottish Labour will now set a new target to generate 50% of our electricity from renewable energy technology by 2020.

That’s a commitment which takes climate change seriously, but it is also a commitment which is good for Scotland’s economy. Scottish Labour is committed to ensuring that Scotland is in a position to be a world leader in developing new technology and enjoy the economic benefits of doing so.

Renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies are industries that could bring new success to Scotland’s manufacturing sector. Wind farm technology came from Denmark, but marine and micro renewables present fantastic opportunities for us to develop, market and sell the technology and capitalise on export opportunities.

Scottish Labour is committed to supporting the development of wave, tidal and solar energy, biomass, hydrogen and bio-fuels and the development of technologies to promote the greater use of fuel from wood and other energy crops.
